What "VIP" on a Spring Break Party Card Actually Gets You

VIP on a spring break party card can mean faster entry, a private section, a private bar or nothing at all. What to ask, and what PCB Club Card Ultimate includes.

Short answer

"VIP" can mean a faster line, a roped-off section, a private bar, or just a word on a card. Ask which. On the PCB Club Card, VIP is Ultimate-only: express VIP entry at peak hours and a VIP section with a private bar, plus all-night entry.

“VIP” is the most stretched word in spring break marketing. Sometimes it means a real section with its own bar. Sometimes it just means the card is shiny. Before you pay for a VIP level, find out which kind you are buying.

The four things VIP can mean

  1. Faster entry. A separate or priority line at the door. This is the VIP perk you feel most, especially at peak hours.
  2. A VIP section. A roped-off area inside the venue, with more room to stand and a place to regroup.
  3. A private bar. A bar that serves the section only, which usually means shorter waits.
  4. Nothing specific. “VIP access” with no line, section or bar named. That is a red flag.

What VIP means on the PCB Club Card

PCB keeps VIP to its top level. Per its card page, Ultimate ($200 plus taxes and fees) includes:

  • Express VIP fast entry with peak-hour priority.
  • Exclusive VIP section access with a private bar.
  • Free entry all night at all events (the only level without a cut-off).
  • Free drinks 3 to 5 PM (6 days) and 8 to 10 PM (7 nights): beer and a pre-mixed liquor option, 21+ with valid photo ID.
  • One ticketed special event, the free Beach Blast with drinks and food, and 50% off the late-night menu.

Platinum and Fred’s Card do not include VIP entry or the VIP section.

Is VIP worth double the price?

Ultimate is $200 to Platinum’s $100. Our take on who should pay the difference:

  • Yes if you go out after 11 PM most nights. Platinum’s free entry ends at 11, so the all-night entry alone changes your week.
  • Yes if peak-hour lines are what ruin nights for you, or you want a home base inside the club.
  • Probably not if you go out early to use the 8 to 10 PM window and are home by midnight. Platinum covers that.
  • No if you are mostly at Hammerhead Fred’s and in by 10. Look at Fred’s Card instead.

Questions to ask about any VIP level

  • Is there a separate line, and at which venues?
  • Is there a section, and is there a bar for it?
  • Does VIP work every night of the week, or only some?
  • Does VIP change entry hours, or just the line?
  • Is anything in VIP an extra charge (bottle service, for example)?

VIP vs just going early

Here is the honest alternative to paying for VIP: go out early. Lines are usually shorter before the peak, the 8 to 10 PM drink window rewards it, and Platinum’s free entry covers you until 11 PM. Plenty of people get most of what they want from VIP by simply getting in before the rush. VIP earns its price when you cannot or will not do that, or when you want a place inside to regroup after midnight.

VIP for a group

If one person in your crew buys VIP and the rest do not, you will split up at the door at peak hours, and possibly at 11 PM. Decide as a group. Our guide to buying party cards for a group covers it.
